  Gentle Baby Leah
Posted by: Pet1 - 04-03-2017, 10:34 PM - Forum: Heavenly Memorials - No Replies

Gentle & sweet baby Leah.
Date of Birth: 2003 or 2004(?)
Date of Death: April 3, 2017 around 11:15am

Leah was my adopted cat daughter, originally under my Mom's care.  My Mom rescued Leah as a stray in her backyard in the Summer of 2005 I'm pretty sure.  We never knew where Leah came from, but she appeared to be a house cat that someone had likely abandoned.

She had significant health issues when she was rescued by my Mom, and it was diagnosed as a severe case of Asthma.  She received Medications, that certainly extended her life, but at the slow cost of her kidneys which slowly deteriorate as a side effect of the medication she received for asthma.

In 2016 she had 2 severe Urinary Tract Infections, which added to the kidney damage.  What made the UTI infections especially sad is that I didn't detect she had one until serious weight loss.  She may have had the infection for months of pain before I took her in for examination.  The second UTI happened nearly right after recovering from the first one.  She likely had it for close to 2 months before I brought her in to the vet from further weight loss and not moving almost at all.  She was diagnosed with the 2nd UTI at that time.

By now she had gone from significantly overweight to dangerously underweight, and blood testing diagnosed kidney function below 30%.  A terminal condition that only takes a matter of time to eventually end life.

I did all I could for Leah for as long as I could, but she started showing final stage symptoms and today was the painful day that my Mom & I took her in.

She was just over 5 lbs, and frail.  She passed away nearly immediately, even before the Veterinarian could get the stethoscope to listen for a heartbeat.

I will always love my gentle baby Leah, and will always have a place deep in my heart.

God Bless you Leah - Go with Jesus in Heaven.  I love you.

Your adopted Dad,

  Gentle Chadeepa
Posted by: Pet1 - 10-08-2016, 11:02 PM - Forum: Heavenly Memorials - No Replies

Sweet Chadeepa was a gentle dog that resembled a giant teddy bear, with a sweet, friendly personality.

She as deaf, but enjoyed spending time laying in the grass on frequent occasions, or on the living room floor when inside.  She got along with everyone - human & animal alike and had a big loving heart.

Poor Chadeepa was becoming unhealthy in old age, and finally had problems balancing and standing up.  Yesterday Chadeepa fell over & hurt her self, and couldn't get back up & could no longer balance even with help from her Guardian Noreen.

Today, October 8th, 2016, Chadeepa went quickly when put to sleep as she was very weak and barely holding on.

I believe Chadeepa is in heaven now and is finally in peace.

God Bless you sweet Chadeepa - I love you & will miss you.

Carmel - The Kitten I Accidentally Hit On The Road
Posted by: Pet1 - 08-21-2016, 08:40 PM - Forum: Heavenly Memorials - No Replies

Carmel was a sweet loving kitten that I accidentally hit when driving back to Fort Wayne, Indiana from Celina, OH on HWY 124 about 35 or 40 miles away from home on Thursday August 18th, 2016 around 8:45pm.

The poor kitty darted out right in front of my truck from the edge of the field.  I didn't see her until the moment she ran out in front of my truck.  I tried as well as I could with the very limited response time to try to not drive over her, but to try to steer in such a way she was between the wheels.  Immediately after going over her I saw her lying on the road.  I got out and she was a beautiful calico kitten about 3 months old I estimate, with carmel, white, off-white, and grey colors. Surprisingly she was still alive, and appeared to be in pain and shaken up.  I thought something hit her face because her eyes looked blind. I wrapped her in my shirt, and brought her back into my truck and drove back to Fort Wayne to get her medical attention at the emergency 24 hour vet.

During the remaining 45 or so minute drive home, her condition seemed to improve, and she was walking around on me while I was trying to keep her still.  She kept improving and meowed a great portion of the way to the vet.

Once I arrived at the vet, I noticed her eyes looked really bad & cloudy.  The vet examined her, and didn't think there were major health problems resulting from the wreck - she must have not been driven over by the wheels of my truck I'm guessing.  However, she advised that the cat had a fever - probably from hitting the oil pan or a bar under my car I'm guessing.  She said that the big issue though was that the cat had Injunctivitus (herpes), which had caused her eye problems.  She appeared completely blind in her left eye, and probably 50% to 75% loss of sight in her right eye.

Due to having 4 cats where I live, I would not be able to bring Carmel as I named her home since I didn't have anywhere to keep her where she could be kept away from the other cats to avoid spreading disease.  So I had to do the unthinkable - I had to surrender her to Animal Care & Control, which would possibly euthanize her.  There was simply nothing I could do since the home I live in is not my own, and also since there was nowhere to keep her that was away from the other cats.

I know the vet facility had good intentions, but I felt they had painted an overly rosy picture about the optimistic chances of Carmel not being euthanized.

The next day, Friday, August 19th, 2016, I received a call from a friend who offered to take Carmel until I could get an improved living arrangement which would accommodate her.  I was elated.  I immediately around 2:15pm called Animal Care & Control right away to ensure Carmel was safe.  When I called they advised she had already been euthanized, and my heart was immediately broken.

She was basically immediately euthanized with no delay to see if her condition was manageable.  Sometimes there is no second chance even when making decisions in the midst of chaos. The pain made me hysterical for awhile & I feel the deepest sadness about loosing her.

Yesterday I had a lot going on helping a local animal rescue, and had my Brother visit from Indianapolis, so I didn't write this post then.  Yesterday I felt I could finally write about it, but the day was beyond busy & draining in so many ways.  Today I finally had the time to write this memorial the way I felt it needed to be done.

Another sadness is that my phone was too low on power to the point it would not allow me to take a picture of Carmel.  Clearly the largest loss was Carmel's life in the middle of confusion, limitations & chaos though.

I hope baby Carmel forgives me for letting her get put to sleep needlessly as I really loved the kitty and never wanted her to be put down.  She was so friendly, scared, and wanted a home - one I wish I could have provided her on Thursday night.

I pray God will let me get to know baby Carmel in the future when I pass away.  I feel a deep sadness over the situation, although it is consoling to know she didn't slowly die as a result of being unable to hunt from being blind - that would have been a painful and slow suffering end to her life here on Earth.

God Bless you baby Carmel always, love your temporary human dad who will feel permanent pain, loss and sadness about you for the rest of my life.

I love you kitten,

Baby Toes was a lovable kitty that was beautiful in color, and strong in personality.

She was the daughter of Dee Dee, who is also a sweet kitty that is a Tortie.

I wish I knew Toes better, although I loved her and look forward to seeing her in Heaven when my time comes.

Please see her beautiful pictures.

God bless you Toes & rest in Heavenly peace.

Anika was such a sweet sweet, but sick kitty & friend.

Baby Anika had ongoing sicknesses as did her sweet sister Aubry.

Eventually the progression of her illnesses matured and expanded to the point that poor Anika deteriorated to a frail kitty that loved people, but was slowly dying.

As heartbreaking as it was to hear she was so weak that she went within a very short time when the euthanization was performed.

I will never forget Anika and still see her sweet face when I look at my phone since her friendly face is my screensaver.

Truly one of the friendliest kitties I've had the blessing to know, who had a lot to say with a friendly voice.

Go rest with your sister Aubrey & Jesus baby Anika. I love you both.

Uncle Randy

  My Little Friend Legs
Posted by: Pet1 - 07-28-2016, 11:16 PM - Forum: Heavenly Memorials - No Replies

Legs was a sweet kitty that I wish I had known better as he was afraid of people.

On the rare occasions he would come to investigate me you could tell he had a big heart, although a frightened one, who likely had a hard life before being adopted at the animal rescue.

Legs had a limp from an injury earlier in life, which resulted in a permanent limp, so he probably didn't feel very good walking a lot.

Needless to say, my little friend Legs was camera shy, and to my sadness I was never able to get a picture of him, although was a smokey brown kitty I can see him in my mind even now.

Poor Legs eventually developed a terminal tooth and toe condition, and was put down to avoid further ongoing suffering.

God Bless Legs, who knew few people, but had a loving heart. Rest in the love of God my little friend,

Your Uncle Randy

  Gentle Diamond
Posted by: Pet1 - 06-27-2016, 10:35 PM - Forum: Heavenly Memorials - No Replies

Little baby Diamond was as gentle as they come.

Her guardian saved her from a cat shelter, asking for one of the least likely to be adopted.  That was Diamond.  She was very frightened of other people and animals, and would often shy away from new people like me for a long time until she got to know you.

She was very very gentle, and completely harmless to all.  She was a true black beauty of a cat.

Poor Diamond had aged and continued to degrade until her quality of life was very low.

Sleep in Heavely peace sweet Diamond. I look forward to seeing you in Heaven.

  June Bug Juna
Posted by: Pet1 - 06-27-2016, 09:48 PM - Forum: Heavenly Memorials - No Replies

Adorable and friendly Juna was adopted with her brother some time back in 2014 if I recall correctly. Her brother died shortly after adoption after being hit by a car.  After that, Juna lived on and began to make friends with the other dogs in her new home.

Juna was a fun loving friendly dog that wouldn't harm anyone - creature or person.  She had a very innocent disposition and seemed to be happy and thankful at all times.

Friendly Juna had heart worm problems, which persisted after the initial treatment, but was not found out until long after the treatment was completed.

Poor baby Juna died on the morning of Sunday 06/26/2016 at 5:35am.

I look forward to seeing your & your brother's friendly face in Heaven after I die - you were such a sweet dog.

  Tiny Baby Isabel
Posted by: Pet1 - 06-27-2016, 09:37 PM - Forum: Heavenly Memorials - No Replies

Little Isabel was a friendly little grey & white kitty that was very fond of people.  She loved hanging out and primarily living on the kitchen counter, and greeting people as they visited the sink.

Poor baby Isabel suffered from Feline Leukemia, which possibly stunted her growth.  She was very tiny and her guardian commonly fed her fattening foods to try to increase her weight.

Little Isabel was euthanized on Saturday, 06/25/2016.

Looking forward to seeing your sweet friendly face again in Heaven someday where you will be healthy again.
